After school Art Classes are offered to students Years 3 to 6. Classes run after school and are held on school grounds.

The aim of the class is for children to have fun while exploring a range of materials, as well as learning key concepts to help improve their understanding and ability.

Materials that will be used during the year include graphite, charcoal, pastels, oil pastels, markers, watercolour and acrylic paints. Other media such as clay, mixed media collage, and printmaking may also be explored.

Children will work on a range of projects, with most running over several weeks. Projects are based on a specific learning outcome, but are also designed to give students freedom to develop their own ideas and use their imagination.

Each term, there will be a theme which will be the main focus of learning. In Term 2, our learning focus will be on Character Design. We'll look at what to consider when creating a character - how do we convey their personality and the story we want them to tell? We'll look at some manga drawing and cartooning techniques also.

Max 10 students per workshop

This Easter holidays, the Arty Cats workshop will be all about fancy lettering! I have always loved beautiful lettering, which is most certainly an expressive artform in itself.

You don't have to know much about lettering to enjoy this workshop, just be able to (more or less) write neatly!

In this workshop we will use a range of materials including brush pens, watercolours, fine drawing pens and pencils to create a beautiful and unique piece of lettering art.

We will practise essential brush and pen strokes that can be used for all sorts of styles of lettering. We will also look at fun ways to embellish letters, as well as drafting and composing a piece of lettering art. Students will be given a choice of several styles of lettering to practice and use in their artwork.

The finished art that students will take home will be a piece to treasure, on quality paper, and can be based on a favourite saying, a short poem, or someone's name.

At the moment, expressions of interest are being taken. Once there is a group of around 6 students, classes will commence. Please be in touch through the contact details on the bottom of the page or through the form on the contact page if you are interested in enrolling your child.
