My name is Catriona and I run Arty Cats, which provides extracurricular art classes for primary school students.

Art has been a passion for me for as long as I can remember. Spending time at my desk drawing or painting is my way to relax while at the same time sharpen my mind and constantly challenge myself.

I Have a Bachelor of Fine Art, majoring in Painting from the University of New South Wales, and also a Master of Electronic Arts, majoring in Computer Animation, from the Australian National University. I have practised as a professional artist for over 15 years, and have exhibited work in both solo and group shows across Australia and overseas. I am currently enrolled in a Masters of Education at Charles Sturt University, which I hope to complete in 2025.

In 2018, I started running classes at Stanmore Public School, and have since run classes at Concord West and Glebe Public Schools. Teaching art has been such a wonderful experience. I have learned so much from the amazingly creative kids in the classes, and it's been a joy to watch them create a diverse range of beautiful and imaginative work.

In my teaching I seek to inspire students by introducing key concepts and techniques. As students learn, they are open to new possibilities and gain tools to help them express themselves. While developing technique is important, I also believe in giving children space to be imaginative and pursue what interests them. Most important to me is that the classes are an enjoyable and positive experience, and allow students to grow as artists.
